The Primary Purpose of Business

Consider the following quote from author and Fortune 500
business consultant, Lance Secretan:

"The primary purpose of an organization is not to make
a profit. It is to help human beings grow, express
their creativity, contribute their life-source and
make the world a better place. The purpose of an
organization is to inspire the soul."

That's an interesting quote. It may seem a bit in-credible
to you. Possibly even irresponsible. After all, how can an
organization expect to survive without profit? It has to
be the primary focus at every level of the organization.
Right? Maybe.

As you consider the quote further, you might also consider
some of the names on Dr. Secretan's client list. Here are
a few of them:

* IBM
* The Home Depot
* Nortel
* The American Heart Association
* Allstate
* Forbes

Apparently, Dr. Secretan is saying something many people
are ready to hear. At least some pretty "heavy hitters"

in
the business world are ready to hear it.

Frankly, I wish I'd written the statement myself. Maybe
you do as well. I'm willing to bet you've at least had
similar thoughts at one time or another.

What gets in the way of us standing firmly in that
possibility?

What stops us from actually aligning our actions with the
idea that the primary purpose of an organization is to
help people evolve, express their creativity and
contribute their life-source to the greater good of all?

What gets in the way of us practicing "inspiration of the
soul?"
